Smell is a strange thing. It can bring up these powerful memories within the first second you get a whiff. Sometimes I'll smell something and I'll remember something I haven't thought about for years, or something I didn't even knew I remembered.
When I used to think of college I never thought about all the smells that would be there. Believe me, the scents in residence halls are (more often than not) odors, but then there's times where I'm brushing my teeth in the bathroom & I can all I can smell is the shampoo from the person showering behind me. Shampoo smells so nice. When I walk about campus sometimes I'll smell a trace of mature from the neighboring fields, other times all I can smell is the breezy air. Then of course there's all the buildings. When walking in them it seems almost as if I can tell how old they are. The newer buildings definitely smell a ton better. I can't help but think all the things I smell everyday on campus will soon be a pathway to a memory. It makes me so happy, but sad at the same time.
